Title: Playing Files from a NAS Drive
Post by: JD68 on December 30, 2015, 03:34:26 pm
Hi

Could anyone help me with getting files to play from my NAS Drive? It is connected wirelessly to my PC and I can select individual files from it through Windows Explorer and play through JRiver, but I can't get JRiver to recognise the library of files as it does with the files on my hard drive. It means that I can't select an album from the NAS drive and play it from the folder within J River. Although I can access individual files I can't skip to the next track etc without loading each oneindividually. I have tried following the instructions but nothing seems to work and I don't understand all the terminology.

I am on the trial version of MC at the moment and I have to say that although the sound quality is very good I find it incredibly awkward to use. It seems to be massively over complicated when all I want to do is play music through it.

Any help would be appreciated so that I can decide whether I want to purchase a license. Thanks.

Do you have the NAS drive mapped as a drive on the PC?

It shows in File Explorer but I'm not sure whether it's mapped. How can I tell?

If you navigate into the folder, it has a drive letter, like the drive on your computer (the main drive on your computer would be c:\ the nas might be any other letter)

No it doesn't have a letter. I have tried to right click and Map drive but it doesn't let me complete the action as it is blanked out.
