Title: Media Center continues auto-launching, Displaying "LPC" and "live" and a counter

I think this has something to do with routing audio through MC. How do I turn it off?

I'm not sure what's going on with your system, but you can turn off the WDM audio driver at Tools>options>General>Features then uncheck the box "WDM Driver".

Afterwards, you may need to go into the Windows Sound properties and select a new default  playback device such as "Realtek HD" or whatever on-board or connected audio device you have (or maybe rebooting will do it). Then check in MC under Tools>Options>Audio Device>Default Audio Device, and make sure the correct audio device is selected there.

If you are going to use the JRiver WDM Driver, you need to at least leave the MC Server running on the PC. You don't need to User Interface to be running, but you do need the Server to process audio from the WDM Driver.

MC is auto-launching as you have the WDM Driver set as your default audio device in Windows, and then a sound is played in Windows, which requires MC (Server or User Interface) to be running. It works just like file associations in Windows, launching the required application when a file is opened, or in this case, a sound is played.

But you can turn it all off as CB explained.
