Title: Distorted audio with MC21
Post by: speeddeacon on January 21, 2016, 12:02:29 pm
Hello all, I have recently set up a headphone listening station at work, installing JRiver on my office Mac Mini. I've been using JRiver at home for several years on both Mac Mini and iMac. For some reason, when I play a file, the audio is distorted. My components are as follows:

JRiver MC21.0.31
El Capitan
PS Audio NuWave DAC.

Audio is configured to:
Output: PSAudioUSB2.0 Audio Out [core audio]
Integer mode is on (tried turning it off but didn't make any difference).
Buffering 100ms (tried changing it too).

On the MM, the system and Midi settings are USB2.0 PS Audio 24bit integer.

The files on the hard drive are fine and play perfectly over the same hardware using iTunes (default audio player) so I know the cable, DAC, external HD and files are all fine.

Any ideas? I've not had a issue at home so not clear what's going on.

Thanks!

Did you try changing this?

Output: PSAudioUSB2.0 Audio Out [core audio]

I don't recall exactly, but I *think* you have to close MC and reopen it after you change major parameters like Integer Mode.  Try turning off Integer Mode, restarting MC, and then try some music.

Yeah, I did but didn't matter. Besides, that is the correct setting I believe anyway. What did help was turning off integer mode the correct way (quitting MC then restarting after making the change), see below.

Thanks Brian, when I deselected integer mode and quit MC then restarted, audio began to play normally.
