Hi. MC user since v14. Question: what is the benefit of using an Id rather than a generic DLNA renderer like the http://www.sonicorbiter.sonore.us/ (http://www.sonicorbiter.sonore.us/)?
Is syncing somehow faster, is playback more reliable? I have tried using MC20 to "play to" my Denon DLNA renderer and while it's mostly reliable, it does freeze up sometimes and trying to "seek" in the music (file format dependent) can be problematic. Is MC<-->Id a proprietary protocol that is more reliable and supportable than an open standard like DLNA?
Curious to know what other diehard MC users are opting for

The primary difference is that you're using MC on both sides, so it will play anything MC does. It will be reliable.
You might be able to fix the MC20 problem by converting everything to the same format. MC has conversion settings for DLNA. It's in the Media Network settings.

The biggest advantage for me is using the Id as a server, not as a renderer. It can be used as both.
It is very reliable as both a server and renderer.
