Post by: JohnnyFire on February 14, 2016, 03:22:01 am
may we have a the propabillity of a custom installation, i mean when we start the installation we be asked what to installed and what not, for example asio live or pictures support for example...

cause t have it right we need to install the app as usual restore ur settings and the reinstall the app to remove the unesecery features.

Just go into Options>General>Features and turn off what you don't want.

Those settings will be carried over to future installations of MC, whenever you do an update or upgrade.

already done that but for example to remove completely some features like asio live driver needs to reinstall the app after all the steps i  said....

my request makes it more easy and less time making for the user!

In that case I assume that you have automatic updates turned on, and it is the automatic process that is re-installing the ASIO driver?

Just disable automatic updates and just check for updates regularly, then select the custom installation, and you will have full control.

However, I don't know why you are doing a Restore as part of an update. Perhaps if the above doesn't help, you need to describe exactly what you are doing in the best English you can, so we can better understand the problem.

We generally do not recommend to blindly turn off a bunch of features, as it can have unexpected consequences on some functions that users don't necessarily associate with that feature in particular, and as such its rather unlikely that the installer will ever offer such an ability.

yes but why should i put in system something that i never use? (personal opinion) like an asio live for example

It also doesn't harm you, since turning of most of those features doesn't actually change anything thats installed, just hides them from the UI, or similar.

Also a full installation of MC is only about 130MB. Why worry about such a small amount of disk space?

Most people don't do many clean installs. I've only done one on each of my PCs that use MC. Since then, all upgrades and updates. Are you installing for a bunch of other people or something?

Regardless, as your steps require just a little more effort, and most people will never need what you are requesting, it isn't going to happen. Especially as Hendrik has spoken!

the point is not to do all this but a simplier check list on installer what we wanna or dont will do it perfectly i believe!
