First of all I would like to say that I have spent over three hours reading FAQ's and any other material I could find before posting. But I could not come up with a solution. So please forgive me if the answer is staring me right in the face!
Today I downloaded and installed the current trial version of Media Center. When I load a CD into one of my two CD-ROM drives, Media Center does recognize the CD and finds the title and artist information but when I click on "Rip CD" I get the message "Read Track Failed. Failed to extract Digital Audio"
I then tried to play a CD but the player just cycled through the songs without stopping, and no sound.
I can rip CD's with EAC/LAME and CDex successfully.
Both of my CD players are SCSI,
Toshiba XM-6201 TA SCSI
Yamaha CRW4260 SCSI
One other note, when I click on "Rip CD" both of my CD-ROM drives start initializing as is I had just booted up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and thanks in advance.!

can't comment on the rest, but using my CRW4260 I never got usable results when ripping.

Thanks for your comments but I actually do use the Toshiba for everything except burning CD's.
I failed to mention that the drive that is in use at the time of failure is the Toshiba.
thanks,

Sorry I missed this post earlier. Please post your system info (from the MC help menu). Are you running WinXP and logged in without admin privilege?
-
Did you ever get a resolution to this problem?

Your problem is probably the ASPI layer. If you use Adaptec ASPI 4.7x (wnaspi32.dll and aspi32.sys), try using Adaptec ASPI 4.60 (1021). Even if Adaptec provides ASPI 4.7x for Windows XP, there are problems with this version and Windows XP. It should then work fine with SCSI CD-ROM devices...
