Don't know if this is my hardware or a generic thing, but here goes.
My commands on my remote do the following -
Turn the TV on
Wake my PC from sleep
Send MC to appropriate screen (Live TV, Movies, Music etc).
It does this fine, however when there is a DVD in the drive (or CD), the computer spins up the drive and MC becomes unresponsive until the drive has been analysed.
If there is no disc in the drive, MC is immediately responsive.
Any thoughts on why this may be the case? And is there anything I can do to perhaps "defer" the scanning of the drive?
-
Yep, I notice this too.

just fishing here, not sure what you mean by it being analyzed?? but I'd check:
that you don't have the autoripping on
that you don't have your AV set to scan optical drives
and that, as a long shot as I doubt anyone would, the optical drive is not set as a watched folder in import options (if for some reason it is on purpose, then turn off the audio analysis on import option)

Thanks Arindelle,
Perhaps analysed wasn't the correct word to use.
I'm talking about the phase where the DVD drive gets spun up so the computer can read what's in it - what CD, what movie etc.

Same here. Trying to play a DVD it took MC a good 5 minutes to respond and start playing the DVD aftert hitting PLay in Theater view.
-
Played a little more with this and tried to compare behaviour with VLC...
Not sure it's MC's fault....
Once the DVD has been "scanned" once by MC it plays fine afterwards...WHen a new DVD is inserted that's when it takes up to 10 minutes before it starts playing...
VLC was also fairly slow.
Might be the drive (or AV..) McAfee AV is set to scan files as I use them for removable drives. That could be it...

One thing that would help is to get the "Analysing Optical Disc Message" in Theater to know something is going on.
