Title: Bug: DLNA Server not visible as playback zone
Post by: res80 on February 26, 2016, 04:25:45 pm
Hi!
I have a strange issue with Media Center.
My setup: 1 server and 1 laptop running MC, Android phone with Gizmo and one Pioneer receiver with DLNA support.

Gizmo shows 3 playback zones: here, there, Pioneer
MC on the laptop shows only two: here and Pioneer, there (Server) is missing.
In the settings DLNA renderer is enabled.

I already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall, that fixed it temporarely, but then the issue came back. I cannot see the playback zone of the server itself in my Windows client, but I can in Gizmo...

Any idea what's going on?
Thanks,
Ruediger

I finally found the reaon for this behaviour.
I didn't want to modify the settings twice, for both machines.
That's why I setup the client first and used the export/import settings to copy the settings to the server.
And then I enabled the DLNA feature on the server.

However, by copying the settings, the GUID of the main playback zone was identical on both machines.
And I guess this is the reason why the client didn't show the server zone.
I changed the last digit of the GUID of the server in the registry and now I can see both zones on the client.

I think that the possibility to copy settings from one machine to another machine is really nice!
But perhaps the settings import should provide a selection, if you are restoring settings to the same machine or a different one.
And certain settings, such as the zone's GUID should not be restored to a different machine.

What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Ruediger

Indeed.
