Sorry - I asked this several years ago and no longer remember the answer. I keep my music files on a NAS hard drive and access these files from 2 different PCs. When using JRiver and I change a tag on one of the PCs, how do I make sure this change is also done on the NAS music file so this change will show up when I use JRiver on the other PC? Example - I change a song title on PC #1. Later, when I use JRiver on the 2nd PC, the old song title is still there.
Well, I just checked again and now the change I made on PC 1 IS showing up when I use PC 2, so I obviously have it set correctly to achieve my goal, but I don't know what I did to do this. So please tell me how to do this operation anyway, so I will know what is happening in the future.
Thanks

It's 2 settings:
1. Tell MC to write all changes that it CAN to the file's tags:
Tools > Options > General > Importing & Tagging > update tags when file info changes
2. Tell MC to monitor files in the auto import directories and to read their tags when they change. This makes MC "import" tag changes from the files.
Tools > Options > Library & Folders > configure auto import > Tasks > Update for external changes > (checked)

I'm not sure this works, at least not for video...
I have a similar setup - all files on a NAS - my primary copy of MC in my office where I do all my imports/tagging/updates etc, and a second MC under my TV for playing media there - this secondary is not used for any management, it just pulls in whatever is on the NAS.
But in order to get the tag changes into the 2nd version I've always had to manually select files and do "update library (from tags)".
Indeed I just tested this morning, ensuring the options above were checked and making a change to the file tags with the primary and they do not get updated on the secondary...
I wonder if this is a video sidecar file problem...?

Seems to work with audio... although even there, there is a wrinkle...
If you clear a field, that change isn't imported...

Going to start a new bug topic for video.

Thanks - I'll keep this in my file so that in 3 years I can lose it again.
