Title: Video tag changes and empty fields not auto-imported
Post by: mark_h on March 08, 2016, 03:52:05 am
Running one master copy of MC on my office PC for all import/tagging/management duties and a secondary 24/7 version under my TV for serving media around the house.  The secondary version simply auto-imports all the files for use but I want it to also pick up tag changes that I make from the office PC.

The options:
General->Update tags when file info changes
Library&Folders->Configure auto-import->Update for external changes

are both checked.

I've noticed a couple of issues with regards auto-imported when tags change.

For audio files, tag changes are picked up, but for NOT for video files.

Also, if a field has some data which is subsequently cleared, that change is not picked up by the auto-import leaving the tag data out of sync with the files. [edit]This is perhaps because an empty field doesn't get written to the file tags...?[/edit]

The only way I can get video files to update their tags is to remote log into the server, select the files and do an Update Library (from tags) operation.

I wonder if the video issue is related to sidecars?  (Or maybe I'm doing something wrong...)

?

Bumpety bump.

The lack of working 'update for external changes' with sidecars is probably something that should be looked at?
