Title: DSD256
Post by: mvilla on March 16, 2016, 04:52:22 pm
Is DoP bitstreaming enabled for DSD256 ?
It seems my DAC cannot recognize.
Thank you for your support
Massimo

Which build of Media Center for Mac are you using? DSD256 DoP was enabled as an experimental feature in build 21.0.25. Please try 21.0.55 which is available here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=103674.0

I'm still on JRiver 20. I thought that using DSD bitstream I would not have had problems.
Can you please explain why cannot work ?
Thank you

DSD 256 bitstreaming is only supported in MC 21

This is an educated guess:

True DSD bitstreaming is just sending bits.  So it would work with any DSD:  DSD64, 128, 256, etc.  But DoP isn't "true" bitstreaming.  DoP packs the DSD data into PCM frames in a specific way with start and stop indicators.  I'm guessing that the DoP frame size is different for DSD64 as compared to DSD256.  So it needs to be specifically programmed into MC for it to work.

Hence the experimental support for DSD256 in MC 21 for Mac.
