Title: Device settings
Post by: wooster on March 26, 2016, 06:24:17 pm
Hi

Second day using MC. I am a bit confused. I turned on integer mode but I noticed unter the Tools-Options- Audio Device menu I have 3 options. They are

(Default) [Core Audio]
Built in Output [Core Audio]
TE7002 w/SPDI [Core Audio]

The last is my DAC in the amplier which I connected via USB. I can get sound from either. Which setting should I use? I'm assumig the last one. Would this be right?

Thanks for your help

Default (Core Audio) uses whatever output you have selected in Preferences > Sounds .  The other two are, as you said, the built in sound card, and your DAC.

I always recommend that people use the explicit entry for their DAC and not the "default", as the default can change.  So, yes, choose your DAC by name and it will work correctly and shouldn't change.

Thank you for your help. I couldn't tell any difference bewteen the default and the DAC and given your explanation this makes sense. I will keep it on the DAC setting  :)
