Hi Y'all,

Anyone here have a Sony RoomLink Network Media Receiver? If you do and want to play with media server connecting to it, drop me an e-mail to gateley at jriver dot com. It only does music, not photos or video.

Am I missing something or is this just a glorified remote with a high price tag?

I presume the software comes with it or does it?
Does the software already come on a VIAO or are you paying for the software here?


Still prefer MC with my own remote!

From MC's end I'm assuming? The ad clearly states it will do images and video.

The RoomLink is similar to a TiVo: it streams music, pictures, and video to your TV set, and also allows some TiVo TV recording functionality. I don't know the details except for the music stuff.

Some VAIOs have the software pre-installed, some VAIO's don't. Again, I'm not sure, but I don't think you have to pay for it.

I've done a quick implementation of the server side software that will only handle the music streaming portion of it. I'm still looking for people who are interested.
