Title: Install problems

Decided to take the plunge and install MC 9.1.233. Downloaded the .exe, tried to run the installer but it just displays the "Media Center 9.1 Setup is preparing Install Wizard....." window and that's it.
Thinking my problem was with the previous MC 9.0.180, I uninstalled this version and tried again with 9.1 - still having the same problem.
Now I can't even reinstall 9.0.180.....the same thing happens with the installer.

Any ideas?

I'm running Windows XP Professional, and am logged on with admin rights.

PS I backed up my library before uninstall with is still in my JRiver directory.

If you've used a download manager to download, disable it and try again.  Star Downloader (at least) does not work.

Also, clear your temp files.  Run IE/Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Delete files.  It can take several minutes.

Reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion Jim.

However I've just figured out it was the fault of a program I had installed called "Spywareguard" which is supposed to offer "real-time protection solution against spyware".

I uninstalled SPG and now MC has installed with no problems.
