Title: 3 different ways to do...1 thing? nah...
Post by: Marty3d on August 15, 2003, 03:32:54 pm
I know there's something up JRiver's sleeve, but just in case you're gonna miss this one:

The Action window. Why on earth do you feel the need to open the menu for the Action Window in these ways?:
1. Click on whatever it says in the top middle of the pane
2. Right-click in the same area or the surrounding area
3. Click on a teeny-weenie button next to the Action window title.

If you want a tip on not confusing users: Remove two of the possibilities! Even now, I'm not sure I'm gonna get another set of options when I use the different ways...

That's all! G'night!

We're wrestling with this ourselves, so don't feel like you're alone.  We will definitely have it cleaned up before we release.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah - I was thinking this myself.

For me though - two of them are fine - it's right clicking on the actual action pane itself - this shows the list of where the action pane can go which is confusing. Save the choice of where the action pane is for the top of the action pane window (where it currently is) and remove it from the right click on the body of the action pane - save that for options related to whatever action pane is being displayed which would  help make these a lot more obvious.
