Do you have administrator privilege?

What does that mean?

You need to be logged into Windows with admin privileges.  Check under users in the control panel.  Check Microsoft site for details.

What does being an administrator have to do with buying media center and using it on my own computer?  All I need is help getting the software to work or getting my $40 bucks back.   Thanks

For somebody who doesn't even know what having administrator rights means, you sure do exhibit some attitude towards those who DO know and are trying to use that knowledge to help you.

Certain Operating Systems, namely Windows NT, 2000, and XP are written in such a way that only users with administrator rights (meaning they have rights to administer the PC) can install software and configure certain aspects of the PC.

It's possible that if you don't have administrator rights on the PC account you're using to install the key from, you may have problems. Hence Jim's question:

Do you have administrator priviledges?

I'd also ask you what the exact error message you're getting is because, you know... that might actually help us help you with your problem or something.

All right dude.  I am retarted when it comes to this computer stuff.  I just did not understand the question.  My error is the following: The pop up box reads - Error opening file: C:\Documents and Setting\ralf\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\QHKKQ6IG\Media%20Center9-29450[1].mjr.

Then another pop up window says:Error restroring license.  Failure

I don't have attitude.  I just did not understand the question.  This has been a very frustrating experience trying to get the media center to work.  I have a boat load of music and thought the media center could be the best to manage it.  It isn't free and I thought the customer service would be more user friendly.  I am just frustrated.

Guys,

I've read the post ten times now...  and I don't see where

exhibits testy behavior or an "attitude".  It just seems like an honest (though technically ignorant) question.

I raise this because I've noticed in the last few months a general behavior of clique-ishness and indignity towards many who have a problem (or dislike) with Media Center or JRiver.  I think this can turn some people off to an otherwise awesome forum!

OK...  perhaps a post was deleted or modified before I read it (in which case, my observation still stands - though with one less data point!).

Thanks guys for your help.  I am still stuck, but hopefully I can work it out with your help.  I hope I don't run out of restores.

Restores can be reset.  Don't worry about that.

Make sure you have the latest version of MC.

What size is the file you've downloaded?

I slept on it, and just wanted to apologize if I jumped the gun a little bit in assigning "attitude". I think Pensive Chimp summed up my feelings pretty well last night with why I hit that conclusion. And he was right about another thing. We don't hold grudges around here.

At least I hope not. Otherwise I think half this forum probably hates me by now. :P

Not to hijack this thread or anything...

So have you had any luck? Did you check the file size? It might be totally out of whack.

Thanks for the help.  I cleared the internet temp files and that seemed to do the trick.  Thanks again
