Title: MC 21 will not open on Snow Leopard
Post by: primetime4 on April 30, 2016, 09:16:52 pm
Hello... just updated to MC 21 on my Mac and everything went as usual. However, now when I open the app the only thing I get are 2 blank "Information" dialogue windows with no text. The only option is to click "OK" which brings up the second blank window where clicking "OK" does nothing but close the window.

I am running the latest version of OSX that my Mac will support which is Snow Leopard. I looked for a download of MC 20 but could not find it so any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

We're working on a solution for this problem. For now, anyone using Snow Leopard who cannot open Media Center can roll back to 21.0.55, which should still work. Here is a link to the download for 21.0.55: http://files.JRiver.com/mediacenter/channels/v21/latest/MediaCenter210055.dmg

Thanks.  When you say "roll back" if I reinstall the older version, will it simply find all the music files that had been previously installed? Is there anything I have to do to assure it won't open with blank slate, or will it simply find everything without doing anything but the reinstall of the older version?

Thanks again for having taken the time to respond.  :)

Installing the older version shouldn't have an effect on your library but it's probably wise to make a library backup before downgrading.

That would only be possible if I launch Media Player. As I said before, after the upgrade, it won't launch.

Or is there a way to backup without opening the Media Center?

It should be fine, downgrading doesn't affect the library files.

Yes, thanks. That did work, and everything is working again in Snow Leopard. Thanks for your help and encouragement.

The issue with Media Center not launching on OSX 10.6 should be resolved now in the latest build (21.0.80).

Hi,

I see on this thread that MC21 has been fixed so that it will run on OSX 10.6.
Alas, it doesn't run on my Mac Mini.
JRiver worked before on my Gen 1 (I think) Mac Mini but I would have occasional dropouts while playing DSD files. Perhaps every couple of minutes or so. To fix this, I put in an SSD drive but can't get MC21 to run.
I get the same info as the above writer mentioned, a dialog box that just says ok.
I am going to try and install the earlier version and see if that works.
I am more of a pc guy and have no idea how or if I can upgrade the OS on this old souped up box.
Yours sincerely, Jeff

^ You're probably running a version of MC that has the snow leopard bug.  If you're not running 21.0.80 , please download it from here:

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies and ultimate the fix. Makes me wonder how I ever used any other media player.
