Post by: kurushi on May 04, 2016, 12:08:51 pm
Hi,
Anytime i need to "open with" MC for any audio because iTunes seems to be the god on my mac is there's a way to make MC my default player?

I am pretty new on mac...

Thanks in advance.

You can change the defaults for individual file types pretty easily.  See #2 in this article:

http://osxdaily.com/2013/08/08/change-default-application-open-files-mac-os-x/

However, I don't do this for MC.  Why?  Because if I want to listen to music, MC is already open and I navigate through my albums, songs, etc with MC.  That's what MC is for!

If I want to play a file "on demand" by clicking on it in the file system, that normally means it's a temporary file that I don't want to use inside of MC.  So I have these files associated with VLC for on demand playback.  This is the best of both worlds for me.  Your uses and desires may differ from mine.

Brian.

Thank you bigentry exactly what i was looking for :)
Have seen this option before  (cause i often change the MC icon with each update but haven't paid so much attention to it)

Yep i don't use MC like this but maybe you can also choose to not add new file played on MC too but well for this thats right vlc is also ok :)

Anyway thanks to you am a better happy mac user now :D
