myHTPC (http://myhtpc.net/)
Is this what Hairstyle should be? I wouldn't know, just happened to stumble across this and remember some wanting more of Hairstyle.
-
Yeah - thats what a lot of them compare it to when they say how they want hairstyle to be :)

Take a look at the thread http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1050262472;start=0#0 for a discussion about myHTPC. A bit of progress has been made since then... but not everything that was suggested (see http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1053328742;start=0#0) has been implemented.

Hey Scott
Whats up
Dont get out here much, summer time.
Luke a bit.
Liked Grinch vs Griff
But, do me a favor.
Do You have any video files ?(mpg or mp2)
If so que a bunch up in Mc.
Then try them in WMP.
Let me know the results.
Thanks

OK... I'll try - but do they have to be MPEG2 or will DivX or Xvid have the same effect?

Hi Scott
Thanks for the reply.
Should not matter, from what I am seeing.
Im using mainly mpg and mp2.(did you notice aiw drivers , back in apr or june cut them out as mpg.)
Mp2 from AIW and G4 personal.
I dont think the prob. is with MC, but WMP.
Since MC goes thru WMP.
Got 3 mach., see the same prob. on all.
Might be my fault, but i dont think so.
Oh, still using mc9, but that doesnt matter.
Going to bulid another sys. for 9.1, when ever I get time.
Got a lot of stuff around here, to do it.
Que up about 3 or 4 files in both.
Leave them run in order.
And let me know the results
Thanks
Griff

MC 9.1 doen't use WMP any longer. It uses the DirectX filters, the same as WMP does.

Speaking of Hairstyle,
It definately needs some sort of 'JUMP' button . . . with 20,000 files, it takes like forever to scroll thru the alphabet to an artist beyond "A" - jeeez
Duno if you can select a viewscheme in hairstyle, but a four-tiered scheme of
Artist (grouped by 3)/Artist (grouped by 1)/Artist/Album
would sure be handy,
or a 'super-scroll' button jumping several pages,
or A-Z along the border,
or "Auto-Scroll" support for my microsoft optical trackball,
something . . . .
I understand this is a work-in-progress (more accurately: 'a-work-not-quite-currently-so-much-in-progress-at-all-but-a-darn-nice-feature-if-it-ever-gets-straightened-out-someday-maybe'*), but I only just played with it again and it would be neat. Also seems a great cover to keep others from getting into the workings of MC9 and messin up my setup, tags, etc.
Looking forward to this.
* Note: stated 'tongue in cheek' with only a slight touch of friendly sarcasm as I do understand priorities. Of course a little prodding never hurt, ya know . . . the proverbial 'squeeky wheel' ;)

Hairstyle uses the same view schemes as the main program, so just make any you like.
For whatever it's worth, I use Hairstyle at home with tons of music and images and love it.

Hi Scott
Did some more testing.
Seems to be mpeg2 files.
WMP9 seems to get lost.
Usually on the 2nd or 3rd file, within the movie, the sound will go, then the pic freezes.Slide bar keeps moving to end then WMP9 hangs.
Another thing I have seen is everyother file WMP9 thinks its a music file.
Does it with Nvidia and ATI encoded files.(720 x 480)
Dont have any DivX files to try.
Could you? Would be interesting.
Dont have any prob. with any other players.
Files play Ok, qued 1 at a time in WMP9.
JimH
How ya doing?
MC 9.1 doen't use WMP any longer. It uses the DirectX filters, the same as WMP does
Thanks for the info.
Been using the latest ver of MC9, have not got into 9.1 yet.
Plan on another sys. for MC9.1, dont want any prob. on my main sys or the XPC.
9.1 does look good from what I see on the forum.
Thanks
Griff
