I have some audio book files (m4b) I’d like to convert to mp3. (This is because JRiver can not play these files...)
This works quite well with small files, but if the file has more than 2 ½ hours, it takes a long time until JRiver tells me, that it is impossible to convert this file. I have no doubt that nobody at JRiver ever tested this feature, and there is no need to do so. But may be now somebody can look at it an do something so that it works as imteded.
(To be clear: I surely not say, that JRiver should play mb4-files as the Wiki promises. This would be too much.)

This article seems to imply that simply changing the file extension to .M4A makes these files into regular M4A files.

You might copy one to an M4A extension and then try converting that file with to MP3 with MC.

Thanks for the idea. But it doesn’t help.

are they DRM encrusted? i could see that
for the record i think MC should play m4b, they are just m4a files with chapter information embedded
