Title: Playback skips while searching library

I am getting very short playback skips while searching my library.  I've set the playback options all the way to "more skip resistant."  I've tried all options for the playback output mode.

I'm using XP Pro with a P4 2.4G, 533Mhz, 512 MB RAM, onboard AC97 audio.

I'm still using version 8.0.385 since it has CDDB lookup.

I do have several thousand songs in the library.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

get rid of the ac97 onboard just go in to the store and buy a soundblaster live PCI card  and use it.

i have that ac97 on a win98se computer and it is messed up  i did not have time to change it or fix it at moms house.

but that is what is wrong it is the ac97 crap  so might be the same on your computer.
