Title: Media Center 21 for Windows will not install
Post by: msmian3 on May 22, 2016, 04:51:12 pm
Hi. I have tried numerous times but media center 21 for Windows will not install on my lap top with windows 7, now upgraded to 10. Each time it ends with this message:

" Media Center was installed for a different operating system. Pleas reinstall Media Center".
Any help is appreciated.

What version are you trying to install?  21.0.83 is at the top of this board.

I just tried this version. It ended up with the same problem and the same message.

I've read this exact same problem several times here.  If I recall correctly, the solution is to uninstall the current version, including removing registry entries.  Then re-install as normal.  No guarantee.  This is from memory.

Good luck!

Brian.

Take a look at the install problems in the Weird and Wonderful thread.  This one, for example:

I tried these suggestions. Nothing worked. I paid for Media Center 22. This will not install either. Same message comes up.

Try installing as admin.

I don't know where to find "install as administrator" button.

Right click on the installation file, and you should see Run as Administrator as a selection.
