I have been having quite a few audio hang ups today.
Checking the Unix log, this is happening:
26/05/2016 15:06:29.889 configd[52]: network changed: v4(en0:192.168.0.4, en3+:192.168.0.2) DNS* Proxy SMB
at, I believe, the same time as the break in playing.
Has anyone else seen this? It is not related to HiRes, happens on MP3 and FLAC playback.
Looks like a network issue to me, however.

So the files are not stored on the device with the MC software?
-
Yes they are stored on the same device.
I'm thinking I should purchase some sort of NAS device.
:(

I am running MC 20 on a MacMini and my files and the library are on the internal hard drive. I also have some hang ups from time to time. Just small/little ones but I guess that's how it is.
I don't think a NAS would change anything with your set-up - why should it. To me it sounds as if your system has problems. This could have many explanations: a defective system, a broken hard drive, not enough memory, not enough disk space, background activity of other programs, etc. My MacMini is a pure audio server, nothing else happens there. I turned off Spotlight and anything else to avoid stuttering audio.
If you think you could work around that problem by putting your audio files away from the internal hard drive, try a USB stick first.
