I cannot play some ape files with MC21 in win10.When I click it to play it pops out this window(I put it in the attachment), saying that I can't play an ape file encoded with a newer ape plug-in than installed, and the plug-in version is 4.16, but my ape file version is 4.11. I can play these files normally on foobar 2000. And I can play all other ape files normally on MC21 except for these. How can I solve this>>>?
Thanks for all sorts of help.

I'm confused because the newest file version that should exist is this:
MAC_FILE_VERSION_NUMBER 3990
There hasn't been anything to make newer versions of APE files (at least not officially supported!).

Is OP referring to ver 4.16 (MAC_416) from here http://www.monkeysaudio.com/ that says it was updated in March 2015 to fix "file progress issue"?
-
The program version is 4.16 but the file version it makes is 3.99.

That's my reading of the state of play:
http://www.monkeysaudio.com/versionhistory.html (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/versionhistory.html)
Based on the published version history (above), I can understand KoenigMarke's confusion and request for clarificiation. Leaving the FLAC stuff to one side, seems like there's a disconnect of understanding here.

I've just tested and using the latest version 4.16 of the Monkeys Audio tool creates files that do play in MC.
Which would be expected given the author.

Of course!
I just wish JRiver had someone around that knew the APE code :P
