Title: How to widen the left grey area in the Tag window?
Post by: 8139david on June 07, 2016, 04:04:38 am
Some of the fields I am using have long names, and they don't appear completely in the left, grey area in the Tag window (see attached pic). For instance, the field called "Compositeur Interprčte" appears as "Compositeur In..."
Is there a way to make this grey area wider?

Drag your mouse pointer to the right where you see the black line and move the tag window to make it how big you want (You will see there a double arrow).

That's not what I want.
As explained, I want to widen the grey area within the Tag window (the area that contains the names of fields, as shown on the picture in my first post).
Widening the Tag windows itself doesn't change the width of the grey area.
Is there some "hidden" setting I could change?

What you want is not possible at this time! You could highlight and copy then paste into note pad or something similar to view everthing. I know it's not what you want but it's better than nothing!

So that's a feature request!

Hold shift when opening the tag window to open up the new in-development version.

The Experimental Tag Action Window *does* resize the field names, as well as the field values as you resize the entire ETAW pane.  So that's a good thing.

It has a very different interface though, so it's not as easy to use in some cases.  The biggest thing being that you can't just add a field to work on, nor can you show all fields.  You can work around this, but it's not as quick as the original TAW in those particular cases.  I like the ETAW a lot.  If it had a few features added to it, I'd probably use it day to day.

Thanks!
The experimental Tag Windows is interesting.
But I'll probably stick with the usual one.

A quick nit-pick re the ETW...

We can easily add an "All Fields" group now, as well as "Visible Fields" and "Playlists"....

I do sometimes miss the ease and speed of the "Also Show..." menu though.

Good point.  I've just added that to a template that I use semi-frequently... or WAS using until I got tired of it. I'm now officially trying out the ETAW again to see if I can use it day to day.  Thanks Marko.  :)

i'll never again touch the "old" tag window.

there are a couple small things that could use a touch of love, but the ability to make groupings based on tags that i actually use (video, photos, documents, music) has changed the way i tag in MC forever.

and if you drag the window larger, the field names also get larger.  no feature requests for the old window please :)  all development should be on the new one IMO
