Title: Home videos getting cut off

When I watch any videos captured from a phone camera in jriver some of the video gets cut off.  I believe this is a problem only in videos not shot in wide screen, or in other words, videos shot with phone straight up and down, and not sideways.  I have looked at the zoom for the file, and I have tried adjust the aspect ratio with no changes.  What is the problem? The videos play normally in Microsoft movies and tv

This has been a problem for a while, not sure what the fix is if any. The only way I have found to fix it in the past is to use QuickTime as the playback engine but now that program has known security flaws in Windows that will never be fixed.
