Title: MC Server DLNA to Roku
Post by: rec head on July 13, 2016, 10:05:39 am
I'm only concerned with getting bluray movies ripped in Makemkv to stream from MC to Roku 3 and 4. I just can't get it to work. I have tried every default server type. The best result I get is the Generic Server with Mode set to Original. With that setup I can get all the way to the movie and it starts to load then the Roku tells me that the file may be damaged. I can get some of the extras from movies to play but not the movies.

The supported file types listed on Roku's site:
Video — H.264/AVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV), on Roku 4 only: H.265/HEVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV); VP9 (.MKV)

Thanks.

Yes. I didn't find that in my search. Much the same. I'm using the Roku channel to try and access the MC server.

Thanks for pointing me to that thread but I didn't see a resolution there.

Should I just give up?

I see that others are just running Plex as well as MC. I'll give it a try.

That is what I am currently doing.

Library management and Critical viewing/listening is done using MC.
Distributed and offline content is handled by Plex. I am using MC where possible, and using Plex to fill the gaps between what I need and what MC currently does. Using Plex just reinforces how good MC is at what it does.

FYI, there is a program on GitHub called MusicPlaylistManager that allows you to load m3u playlists in to Plex, I use that to transfer important playlists that I have created in MC to Plex when needed.

Thanks. All I'm trying to get is MKV TV shows and movies to play on the Roku.
