Title: Headless Id - Command Menu from MCWS - Possible?
Post by: astromo on July 14, 2016, 12:43:52 am
Tried to put the key objective into the subject line.

Is there any way to reboot (98) or shutdown (99) the Id remotely, simply and without the brutaility of a hardware power cycle?

Something along the lines of an MCWS call?

I've tried this:
Code: [Select]
http://Id_IP:52199/MCWS/v1/Control/MCC?Command=27001&Parameter=3where Id_IP is the IP address of the Id.

What this command does is to restart MC (which is not without its uses) but the Id OS stays on line.

I've found mention of remotely accessing the Id via VNC but I got stumped when I was asked for a password using UltraVNC. Nothing set on my Id. Tried setting one and I got a fail, so have given up on that plan.

Thoughts?

If not possible now, what about including this kind of functionality for a future build?

That's about to happen.  Please take a look at the second screenshot in my post here:

In the text menu, you can change the password now.
