Title: Uninstall pop up window impossible to resize
Post by: psam on August 08, 2016, 10:46:03 am
I am trying to uninstall the previous Media Center versions from my HTPC.
The problem is that a pop up window comes up requiring some action from me, but it is too large to fit on my screen so I cannot click on the unistall button at the bottom.
I cannot resize it even.

How do I bypass this pop up alltogether?

Sorry about that.  Try changing your screen resolution.

Sorry about that.  Try changing your screen resolution.
I tried it, it doesn't work. Reducing the resolution simply makes it worse, I can't even grab the top border of the pop up window to move it around.... Can't go any higher, my graphics card only goes up to 1920X1080.

You probably tried, but escape or enter?  Tab and enter?

Escape removes the pop up.
With Tab, I cannot see the fields below the border. After three Tabs it cycles back to the top. I tried Enter on each of the three invisible options that the Tab key is jumping to, with no luck.
I could wait for a software solution, these old versions have been there since Media Center 17 you know! I don't upgrade my PCs frequently  ;D

You could try changing the font size in MC.

If it's a bug in MC20, it won't be fixed.  Sorry.

It is a bug on MC20 and MC 18 for sure, I am not sure about MC19.
MC 21 sized the window properly and it uninstalled just fine.
I guess I should be looking for third party software to force uninstall it. After all, that's why software developers create such uninstall software. To overcome bugs of unsupported applications.
Thank you anyway.

The window may or may not support this, but it's worth a shot. Press Alt-spacebar, then M (for Move). After this you may be able to reposition the window with the up/down left/right arrows.

Thanx for the suggestion, however the problem is that even moving the top bar (the grabbing point for the mouse) as high as it gets, the window is too long to reveal the bottom options.

Did you try changing the font size in MC?

You could do the same in Windows and set the scaling too.

Re-read his suggestion.  It's a good one.  It doesn't require use of the mouse.

My mini wireless keyboard doesn't have arrows.
Anyways, I downloaded a program called Uninstall Tool and it removed older versions of MC in a few minutes.
Problem solved!
