Title: MediaCenter 9.1.226 setup error
Post by: Pedro_Beltran on August 02, 2003, 01:52:06 pm
Hi all:

I've tried to upgrade to MediaCenter 9.1.226 and the Setup program aborted with the message:
  Errors encountered while performing operation
Look at the information window for more detail

No info window is opened.

I uninstalled the previous release (2 or 3 beta releases older) and now I always have the same message when trying to reinstall with two or three releases I've tried.

I'm trapped. My MediaCenter is gone.

Any clue?

Best regards

Pedro Beltrán

Try clearing your temp files.  In IE do Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Delete.  It can take several minutes.

how about renaming J river folder to something like

"J river 2"

then try reinstalling after a reboot

there maybe something in the old folder not allowing the install.

what JimH said is another way to fix a problem like yours.

Hmmm. I got this with .224 or maybe .225 (was very recent anyways). I deleted my setup file and d'loaded a new one and that fresh copy worked without a hitch.

Are you using any kind of download accelerator/helper?
There were reports sometime back that "star downloader" (??) was guilty of corrupting the setups on the way down. Don't know if that's still the case, or if it's relevant to your good self.

First of all: Thanks a lot to all of you that answered this post.

My problem is now resolved.

First: I installed the last known working relesase 9.0...... using all the defaults, even the path

Second: I uninstalled the 9.0.... release in order to fix the registry

Third: I installed the 9.1 release using my previous path (I thought this would preserve the installed plug-ins. Not the case)

Surprise: MC is working fine

Best regards and thanks for the support
