Are there any plans to add TLS support to MC22? Right now a number of people use VPNs on their mobile devices to allow JRemote to work remotely for streaming music. However, I find VPNs for these kinds of services to complicate other apps that I also find useful.
MC could operate on port 52199 as it already does for connecting remotely to a media server but it could also listen on another port for TLS sessions. I know a username and password can be set up for MC but that information is currently transmitted in the clear.
I ask this because i use an RDP app and a VoIP app that can connect to my other servers directly. Having the VPN on for JRemote to work adds latency as well as problems when the VPN momentarily drops between areas of good cell signal and bad.

I wholeheartedly second this.
JRiver could even use the free and easy EFF affiliated letsencrypt certificate program to make setup with a *real* cert nearly trivial.

I think this is good idea also.
