Title: Can't save 'customize views' settings / DLNA
Post by: Mike_M on August 17, 2016, 06:26:01 pm
I want to change the representation of the library over DLNA for my Rotel receiver.

Well, there is the perfect point in menu (Tools-Options-Media network-add or configure DLNA servers-Customize views).

I'd like to have only Audio - Artist - Album artist (auto) + Year-Album in the list only. No podcasts/playlists/recents and so on.

Changing, pressing OK, closing window... And getting default view after opening. Changes were not saved. At the same time no problem with changing views for JRemote/Gizmo. And no changes for DLNA.

OK, killing all 'browser (dlna - XXXXXXXX).jmd' files in library folder.

Successfully changing settings for JRemote/Gizmo again. No problem, new file created, changes saved. Changing settings for DLNA.
New file created, settings are _NOT_ changed.

Can you advise something?  Maybe I missed magic checkbox or something like that?

Windows 7 x64, Media Center 22.0.15, master license, library was imported from backup made on Ubuntu x64 system (Intel NUC were sent to service due to hardware fault, I moved the library to the windows system temporarily). BTW, there was no such problem on Linux installation.
Thanks in advance  :)

After you change, add, or remove these views, you need to click OK to save everything.  Then shut down MC and restart it.  Then the changes should be seen by the clients.

:) Yes, agree. It's necessary to press proper OK button and restart server for the new settings to be sent to client :)
Unfortunately I can't get them saved on server. Server keep sending default list independent of changes made and buttons pressed.

You have to make the server settings changes on the actual server machine itself.

Agree :) Sorry for my English, looks like i just cannot explain the issue correctly. I never tried change settings from client, Rotel have no such possibility at all. I can't change settings on server. From MediaCenter's menu. No changes are saved after OK button. I can do the same operation in 'Customize views for JRemote, Gizmo & WebGizmo' and cannot in 'customize views' under DLNA section.
OK, looks like you never met such problem. I'll try to reinstall MediaCenter and import folder with music instead of library made on Linux version.

I think that the Customize views selection only applies to JRemote, Gizmo, & WebGizmo -- not to the DLNA DMS ContentDirectory structure...

Please take a look, there is the first position in 'Add or configure DLNA servers' window. And it works for me under Linux :)

I did take a look. That is why I said what I did. However I only check the Windows version..

I don't use any DLNA devices any more.  Too much trouble.

But I have Bubble UPNP client installed on my Android.  So I did some tests.  I have added a new item under Audio in the DLNA Customize Views section.  Bubble picks up the new item, so it seems to work fine for me.

This is with MC 22.0.18 for Mac.

In any case, the behaviour will depend on the manufacturer of the client. There are at least three variants of clients that I know of..

So even if you are able to change the browse tree structure that MC offers, if your client is one of the latter two variants, then the MC browse tree structure would not make any difference...

There is a Customize View option under Advanced that applies to JRemote, Gizmo andWebGizmo. If you click on Add or Customize DLNA Servers there is another option to  Customize Views, which should apply to DLNA servers. This is on Windows.

Solved. Clean installation and creation of new library instead of to import the old one from HDD with Linux version of MC. Maybe, some setting were not imported correctly last time. Now it works.
Thank you :)
