Title: JRiver and Microrendu
Post by: sg60 on August 22, 2016, 10:00:52 pm
Is anybody using JRiver with a Microrendu? I just got one and it works fine with Roon but I can't get it to work at all with JRiver/JRemote. Any suggestions on settings or any other tips would be much appreciated.

Try the Audio Setup topic on our wiki.  You probably need to select the device and make sure nothing else has it open in exclusive mode.

I've read that several times but I haven't been able to solve the problem yet. JRiver recognizes the renderer and displays it as a zone. I can access the zone from JRiver. I can see my music files. I just can't play anything. I ran a renderer report using Andrew's Whitebear DMR Analyzer which I've attached. I turned off Windows Media Sharing Services. Windows Firewall has JRiver as an allowable exception. I'm running out of ideas here.

Thanks for the report.

It basically shows no errors. The only peculiarity is that the renderer does not support the L16 (PCM no header) audio format. This is the only obligatory format in DNLA, so it is therefore not DLNA compliant.

Check your MC DLNA server settings. Specifically the Audio output format, where you should select either Original or Specified format MP3, or PCM (with header). If you select Original, you can see from the DMRA report which original formats it does actually support..

The output format is set to Original. Other than a few DSD files, all of my files are in FLAC format. According to the renderer report it supports FLAC.

Two more suggestions

1) try downloading the version of the DMRA that includes the test files, and then confirm that the DMRA can indeed play a flac on the renderer.
2) try setting MC server audio output format to MP3 and then confirm that MC can indeed play a track (converted to MP3) on the renderer

The problem is resolved. There was a problem with the JRiver library. It wasn't seeing the source files on my NAS for some reason. Deleted everything and rescanned. Everything working perfectly now.
