Can MC setup to check for new media in a specified directory every time its starts up, or setup on a schedule to check?
i would like to have an automated way of adding new media.
thanks in advanced.

Currently...no. Your the first I've seen request this. I prefer manually importing...but some may like your idea. Shouldn't be hard to implement.

Actually, a lot of people have requested this.

I know I had requested it.

Can you hit some kind of button that would scan certain "watch" directories and add only the new stuff?
-
Tools/import and then use the browse button. Once you set the directory, MC will remember it.
-
if this was supported in the SDK a plugin could be made to activate the import.
I don't think it is right now.
-
King oh plugin master.
MC can already do silent imports cant it with the command line parameter?
If you were meaning u'd make a plugin - surely you could just allow the users to choose which dir's via ur plugin - then use the silent import parameter to make MC import from those dir's whenever set?

not the same thing as part of the SDK
-
yeah I know :) - I just meant as a work around?

Many people asked for it ,i remember.
MusicMatch has it.
Look like you need to have small folder.
If not ,even MC will need some time to open.
On the subject of importing media:
If i do not miss a setting ,of cause.
In RealOne after you import folder X ,the 'import window' is still here.
Like it ,if you want to import folder Y right after ,you do not need to start all the process again.
It is a small detail of cause ,but one of those who make use/life easy

YES, YES, YES...
Automatic Importing should be standard.
I use ACDSEE 5.01 for all of my image viewing & it has a choice to do manual or automatic updating. Works really well. Any new images added to my hard drive folder is automaticaly added to the thumbnails.
Second Nature Slide Show (a screen saver program that I use) also has this feature so my images are always up to date.
This just makes sence to me.
This should also work for all music & video files to keep them up to date so I don't have to keep re-importing each time I add new ones.

What I was thinking is to have the 'import' command imbedded into the 'hard disk location' menu
So if you have Audio/HDL and right click/import..it would automatically scan that tree level and import just audio files.
What would be neat is to also have something like NAV. Setup different search fields in MC and you could run them at specific times or whenever you want to import and it would save the file type, locations.
