Title: Assigning a letter to external drives
Post by: rsg on August 29, 2016, 10:43:04 pm
So here's the problem: Sometimes when I start up my laptop (Running Windows Vista), it assigns a letter to my external drive (where all my music is stored) that is inconsistent with the letter previously assigned by MC. Therefore, none of the songs will play. If I go into Management in Vista and manually change the assigned letter to the one in the MC file path, the songs will play. BUT then MC starts duplicating  all the music files so I end up with a double copy (one version plays of course; the other does not). If, alternatively, I go into MC and try to change the file location under Options, it will not accept a change to the letter assigned by Vista.

What am I missing here?

And PS, I run MC  on Windows 10 in my office and living room with no problems, but I am trying to keep this old vista machine out of the landfill by using it as a source of music in the shed/man cave. The problem occurs only on the Vista machine.
