Title: Some questions regarding HDHomeRun TV Tuners
Post by: microfox on September 06, 2016, 05:54:47 pm
Does MC support this TV tuner?

1) Can I use all four tuners at the same time?
2) Can I record TV + view Live-TV + view timeshifted Live-TV?

Unlike Plex, whre I can record only.

Thanks in advance.

I hope we have some European users who can confirm one way or the other.

If this device has a bda driver, it should work with MC (we support DVB-C generically on Windows).  If that is the case, yes, you can use all four tuners.  You can record and watch the same show on the same tuner, or record one show on one tuner and watch another show using a second tuner.

How about timeshifted Live-TV, does MC support that?
This means record and watch the same show on the same tuner, but in a different point of time.
This is crucial, eg. for skipping commercials or other stuff I don't want to watch.

Yes.  You can pause live show, skip forward, rewind, etc.  You can record a show, and start watching in the middle of recording.  If you decide not to finish watching it, you can press Stop button to stop watching, and recording will continue to finish.

I'm in Europe and have an HDHomeRun Expand and yes, you can use all four tuners at the same time in MC. One problem, though, is that I can't get MC to tune all the channels I receive. They all show up in the HDHomeRun Setup (where they can be viewed), so this is not a tuner issue, but for some reason MC doesn't find them.

Edit: this has now been solved. The HDHomeRun Expand seems like a fine tuner match for MC.
