Hi,
I use MC 22.0.21 on a PC with WINDOWS 10 and a DAC North Star Supremo; untill a week ago all files were played well.
Now, if I set Audio device "PCM-DSD USB [ASIO]", when I try to play a PCM file, directly without change, I receive the message
Playback could not be started on the ouput ASIO using the format '44,1 kHz. 2ch'
The same problem is present with all others PCM formats (48 - 192 khz) files;
instead there is no problems with DSD files, or if I set PCM > DSD convertion.
Also if I set WASAPI driver all PCM files are played without problems.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall North Star's drivers, but nothing change: with ASIO I cannot play PCM files.
I also verified that the same problem now occurs with MC 21, although it had never previously presented.

It sounds like the ASIO driver isn't working right. Check the manufacturer and try power cycling everything.

Jim,
I have the same problem using ASIO and North Star Supremo DAC.
But I think there is something wrong in JRiver as I tried with HQPlayer and it works.
If useful, I can send you the log.
Thanks for your attention

I don't think we've changed anything that could affect ASIO. Did you try removing the ASIO driver and re-installing it? Did you try North Star?

Hi Jim,
yes I tried removing ASIO driver and re-installing it but unsuccessfully.
Will send you the log.
Thanks for your attention.

Had the same problem with my Soundblaster Z till I noticed it required 48,000 HZ or better to play ASIO at 192. Took me a year to figure that out. ;D After setting 44.1 or less to play at 48HZ all was right with the world.

Hello,
PaoloF I am wondering if you would be able to share the NORTH STAR PCM-DSD drivers with me. They are out of business and I have a DAC that needs them, unable to find them on the web.
Thanks for any help you or anyone can offer.
cheers
