Title: Retrieve "Country" From TheMovieDB.org?
Post by: squeedle on September 13, 2016, 07:51:06 pm
When I "get movie & tv info" for a film, the "Country" field never gets populated. Is this something that can be easily fixed?

I'm unclear on how many, if any , movies have a Country designation in TMDB.  I looked at several movies on the web site and don't see a Country field on any of them.  Maybe I'm not looking at a "full view" of the data?  Or maybe it's not there for most movies?  Do you have examples?

Brian.

I believe it's displayed graphically as a flag on their site. But I haven't used their API. I'd assume that "country" was available in the API, no? I'd be surprised if it wasn't, but you'd know better than I.

I'd love to be able to get country info from themovie db too. I currently have to look up the movie info twice - once for the nice cover art from themovie db and second time for country info from wikipedia. It's a cumbersome process.

Country info is important if you have a lot of movies from countries other than USA.

You can use MCUtils to retrieve much more information in a flexible manner.
See this post and the following ones:

I've used it to get posters, titles and descriptions in their original language, credits, actor as character information, and more.
The attached image shows a playlist of Japanese movies.
