Title: MC22 won't play DVDs
Post by: tadams61 on October 20, 2016, 01:09:19 pm
I've downloaded a trial version of MC22. The Television section (Hauppage tuner) works fine but I can't get it to play DVDs. I just bought The Big Bang Theory, Season 9 DVD package (contains 3 DVDs). I started MC22, then inserted a DVD into the drive. After awhile, the name of the DVD "The Big Bang Theory S9 Disc 1 (D:) showed up under Drives & Devices. I clicked on the DVD in the left column to select it, then I clicked the Play button in the upper main screen. The screen went black, I could hear the arm searching across the DVD but then the original screen appeared again, no messages, nothing. I tried all 3 DVDs and got the same result on all of them. MC22 can read the name of the DVD but that's all. I also still have VLC Player installed on this system and it is able to play all 3 DVDs without any problem.

Should I just give up on JRiver and MC22?

More than likely you'll need to be using something to decrypt the copy protection found on DVDs on-the-fly, like AnyDVD for it to work in MC. Or you can try ripping the DVDs with MakeMKV and they should work fine through MC then.
