Title: Search Tips

When you click in the search field a "tip" box appears. The box doesn't close until you click somewhere else. Please make the box close when the mouse cursor leaves the search input, as it sometimes obscures the search results. Ideally, please add an option to suppress search tips.

That was an intentional change:

21.0.72 (4/13/2016)
Changed: The search suggestion box won't hide when the focus is in the search box (even if the mouse moves a lot or is a long ways away).

Thanks. Then is there any chance of making its appearance optional?

Edit: Menus also operate this way now (you must click somewhere else to close a menu). I'd prefer to make this behavior optional everywhere instead of an option to suppress the search box.

This annoys me so much. I've moved away from the menu / search box / whatever to do something.....and the box does not close by itself.
I have to go back and do it. Grrh.
