Title: How do I:add only new files to library?
Post by: jdmatl on July 27, 2003, 08:47:45 am
I don't see a "refresh"  or "update only new" files anywhere in 9.x media center.  I have already imported about 2,100 MP3. I add about 20-30 a week.

I want these mp3's in my library database. Do I have to

File|Library|Import media

every time and have MC9 re-process all 2,100 mp3's just to add 20 or 30 into the database?

What am I missing here?

Thanks

Just run Tools>Import Media (or your way). It will very quickly read files you've already imported without adding them (if they're identical to existing, that is), and add ones that aren't present. Shouldn't take more than a minute or two. I assume you put all your media files (music) in one directory.

On larger collections numbering > 10,000 or so, there is faster ways (such as importing them from a temp dir, then using MC to move them to your music dir).

if you only have 2,100 files it should not take very long

I have 24,000 and it goes rather quickly

if you have a "Download" dir then just import that dir and then move them by using "Rename" and a directory and file name mask.
