Title: Criteria for 'incomplete albums'- if any -?
Post by: zevele10 on July 23, 2003, 02:58:39 am
OK

Full albums with tracks in right order and  tracks numbers-
no missing tracks numbers.

Ant THREE THOUSANDS ,YES 3.000 tracks in 'incomplete albums'.
Using MP3Tester who tell you if a number is missing in the suite of tracks , i got ZERO .

Using dbPowerAmp player ,i got ZERO
I just installed it now ,knowing that it can tell you missing numbers in a suite

SO?
There is other criteria than the 1-2-3-4-5-6- one?

If yes ,i would like to know about.

Tags are updated- file rewrite from tags infos ect ect ect

Concerning Library Tools ,as far as i know ,nothing more i can do-- but i may miss something..

I think one criteria was that files must be in same folder?
If my memory serves me right...

Ok about this one== songs in the same folder.
But even after checking and correcting it ,i still have completes albums showing as incomplete.

SO..........?????

By the way i have also few incomplete albums who are really incomplete.

In this case ,MC is of great help.

But concerning the other albums..i'am still lost

I wish someone from JRiver (Matt...) would give us the complete algorithm for what exactly counts as a complete album.

They need, as far as I can tell:
1) To have the same album name
2) To be in the same folder

I'm not sure if there is something to do with the artist, but there is an obscure way of determining what counts as a single / multiple artist cd based on Album artist, and something else. Perhaps the phase of Jupiter in the constellation of Orion?

I have a lot of complete albums which are listed under incomplete, single instead of multiple (and vice versa), single tracks which get listed under single artist albums (when 99% of the time they're not). I want (and I know that no-one's listening) an additional category for "Single Tracks". That would save so much clutter it wouldn't be funny.

It's a nice feature (in theory). But we all know how theory works...

I don't have incomplete albums I don't want to have listed there.

Check the following:

If there is only one track per album, in MC's logic it is not an album (not so wrong for me, never saw an album with just one track...). This causes problems if you have one-track-rips of whole albums.

Sorry, MachineHead, I think you're wrong. I have 4 tracks on this album...

You have a re-release then.

Anyway ,this is not the problem.

Any artist/album with one track would not show up a far as the song number is 1.

And i have many albums with one or two tracks only

zevele-

Matt had mentioned that MC also uses length (time) to determine if an album is complete or not.

This might be the case (?) in some that are showing up as incomplete in your library.

I do not know ,really.
OK concerning same folder.
I have ONLY full albums .
They are tagged ,album by album with MM SuperTag== artist name and album name the same .
Not any Jethro Tull and Jethro tull.

Beside it ,some albums are really incomplete.
But i get  let say 20 really  incomplete albums in a jungle of 3000 songs.
And ,if i want to remove 'the false incomplete albums' ,I HAVE TO REMOVE IT FROM THE LIBRARY.

No way to just remove it from the list..
Or i miss a point

You have at least "Part 1" and "Part 2". Or are A- and B-side from the original LP-release (1972) mixed together in your release? ;D

zevele

check all the points a third time. I have over 15'000 tracks now - and not one single album with more than 1 song is listed under "incomplete" if I don't want it. You always find the wrong tagging if you want to.

Not just same folders, EXACTLY the same name, its upper and lower case sensitive.  I'll highlight the entire name (or album, artist) and then reenter the title, then do the properties to filename thingie.

-=-=-=-=-
Tags are good .And ALL filenames are updated from tags -- when tags 100% good of cause-

Must be something more .
But ,as far as i know ,this post is not the first about this problem and we never got a formal answer from JRiver staff.

If yes ,sorry ,i did not  see it.

Another thing to say is that i get now around  2000 tracks in 'incomplete album'.
But it is out of 40.000 songs.

Not like to get 80% of your songs as incomplete album

The ape/apl bug is still there. All my album images are considered incomplete.  These are the most complete albums I have!
