Title: ripping is currently unavailable
Post by: toonr on November 27, 2016, 02:35:06 pm
I am evaluating MC 22.0.39 on my iMac (running MacOS Sierra 10.12.1).  When I insert a DVD (into Apple external SuperDrive) , I'm getting a message stating that ripping is currently unavailable.

Is this functionality disabled in the Mac trial version, or have I missed something while setting the application up to add the drive?

MC for Mac does not rip DVDs.  It will rip CDs, but not DVDs and BluRays.

I use MakeMKV, which is free, and does a *fantastic* job of ripping DVDs and BluRays.  I then import the MKV files produced by MakeMKV, into MC's library and watch the video from there.  They make a very good complimentary combination:  MakeMKV to rip, and MC to catalog, search, sort, and watch the video.

Thank you - I'll give MakeMKV a whirl!

Cheers,
