Title: Can I listen and rip at the same time?
Post by: Kurt Young on July 25, 2003, 10:05:25 am
So, my girlfriend has been in the habit of bringing over a couple CDs when she visits.  She's helping me replace some of my music that was stolen, and also enjoys the fact that she can just bring over a CD and it'll always be on my iPod.  Since I always have my iPod with me, she's got it figured out that she can always have her music when I'm around.

The problem is that she and I want to listen to the CDs also.  When I start ripping, playback stops.  So, I either have to rip it in silence (and I rip --a-p-s so it's not that speedy) or listen and try to remember to rip later.

What I'd really like to do is rip as I listen, like one track at a time.  Heck, if you could filter it so that it doesn't re-rip anything that's always been ripped, I'd leave this option on all the time -- any CD I play on my PC would end up ripped according to my ripping/filename settings.  Woot!

Can I do this?  If not, can you make it so I can do this?

You cannot play and rip a cd at the same time.

But some jukebox allow you to listen to the rip as soon as the first song is ripped.
Playing the MP3 ,not the CD
