Title: MC crashes when fullscreen videoplayback
Post by: daniel_2k on December 25, 2016, 12:45:59 pm
Hi,

since some time (I don't know which version) MC crashes when I play any video and then switch to fullscreen mode.
The video window freezes but the audio plays normally. After some seconds the application crashes.
I use MC 22.0.53. I have setup Red October HQ and hardware acceleration playback.
My graphics card is a AMD Radeon R290X with the latest drivers running under Windows 10 x64.
When I switch back to normal Red October it works.
What can it be?

Try using Red October Standard.

Yes of course with Red October Standard it works (as I wrote above).
But in the past it was working with Red October HQ and hardware acceleration.
Now not any longer.
This is why I opened this thread.

That means that the problem is with the video driver or with madVR.  There was a  similar recent problem posted here.  I'll see if I can find it.

Thank you for the cause for thought. I searched a litte bit on google and found an fix.
It seems to be an issue with madvr.
I can fix it by editing the madvr settings in MC. Under "rendering" -> "general settings" the option "use Direct3D 11 for presentation" have to be marked (see screenshot in attachment).
Now it works.

If I remember correctly any AMD driver more recent than 16.7.3 is broken and requires this setting change. I just installed the new one from AMD and it is still an issue.
