Title: setting up JRiver MC with a Synology NAS
Post by: lazer_dewd on December 30, 2016, 12:14:30 am
Are there any tutorials or guides for setting up JRiver MC with a Synology NAS? I have a ton of different kinds of lossless audio files on my Synology NAS and would love to use a PC with an iFi nano iDSD attached to it to play the songs from the NAS.  Any help at all would be tremendously appreciated!

Simple way is to map a permanent drive letter on the PC to a share on the NAS containing your music (eg M:). Configure the MC import settings to import music from that drive letter (eg M:\Music) (the music files remain on the NAS but the MC database on the PC gets populated with the 'metadata' from the music files). You then browse the MC 'database' via views or smartlists to select the files you want to play; the files are played from the NAS.

I've not had much luck with the standard auto import, but this workaround works a charm

Other than that you don't need anything special.
