Hello,
I can no longer hear any sound through either my headphones or speakers when I use J River MC 22 on my desktop after the new Windows 10 update.
I have audio through iTunes and on websites. I have no audio through the desktop when I try to access my server, listen to Internet radio, or to audio files that are stored on the disk. The sound bar, in the J River display window, indicates that there are audio signals being played. Additionally, I have tried updating drivers etc. with no luck.
I have also attached the log file from MC 22
Does anyone have any clues?
Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit
version: 1607
OS Build: 14393.693
Soundcard:ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audio Device; version:8.1.8.1823
Thanks.

Let's start at the beginning. Are the speakers directly attached to your desktop (your System.Info.txt suggests that)? If yes, have you tested them through Windows Control Panel, Sounds, <device>, right-click, Test? If not, how are the speakers connected to your desktop?

Yes to all.
I also have a server running the same OS and MC22, that is separate from desk top, but through 2-channel system and that seems to work.

Go to Windows>Control Panel>Sound and see what is selected as your default sound device. If that is correct go to the device's properties>advance tab and see what formats and sample rates it is set to play.

Hello,
1. “ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audio Device", is selected as the default device.
2. 24-bit, 96,000 Hz (Studio Quality) is the selected sample rate. Clicking the test button at that sample rate provides sound through the headphones and or speakers.
3. Under exclusive mode:
Allow applications to take the exclusive control of this device is checked.
Give exclusive mode application priority is checked.
I believe these are the same options that were selected prior to the update.
Thanks.

I believe that I have solved this issue.
Somehow, the soundcard is listed twice under, “playback device”. I do not know if this was the case prior to the upgrade or not, but I do not remember there being two selections previously. One selection works one does not. In J River under options >audio device, the playback device that does not function was selected.
All seems to be working well now.
Thank you for your responses and helpfulness.
