When I try to launch Media Center, I continue to get this error noted in the subject line, even after several reboots. The application has worked without this error in the past. What is the cause and how do I get around it?

Did you try rebooting?

You should try to provide more information with your post so others can try to help.
What version of MC are you running?
What Operating System are you running?
Is this a single computer (server) or a client machine?
Does the message popup and then MC wont' start - or does MC still run after the message?
Is there an MC icon (media server running) showing in the taskbar?

What is the full version of MC22?
Antivirus software can cause strange problems like this.
Do you have any older versions of MC running?

additional answers below:
What is the full version of MC22?
When I look in Control Panel, it simply says "22" in the version column of JRiver Media Center 22. All other software shown in control panel have more specific version numbers (ex: Mozilla Firefox says 50.1.0).

I have no antivirus software.
Do you have any older versions of MC running?
Not to my knowledge. I don't see anything in the Task Manager that has a name of JRiver or similar. Is there a better way to confirm?
thanks

The latest MC version is 22.0.59. It is available at the top of this forum.
If your not sure if you have the latest version, download .59 and install it (it won't hurt anything if you install .59 on top of another version or even on top of itself (.59)).
When you install MC, right click on the "MediaCenter220059.exe" file and select "Run as administrator".

To get the full version number, click on Help and select About Media Center.

To get the full version number, click on Help and select About Media Center.
You can also customize the Player bar by right clicking on it and selecting "Customize display..."
then you can have the full MC version shown at all times (useful if you have multiple computers with MC and you update regularly).

The application would not launch so I could not get to the help menu.
I only have it installed on one computer.
Still not clear what caused the problem but reinstalling fixed it. Thanks everyone for their responses.
