Title: Not able to convert when transferring files to handheld

I just purchased a Sony (Walkman) unit. However, quite a few of the files on my PC are obviously unsupported formats like mp4. When I drag-and-drop folders to the bottom left tray, I DO check Options/Conversions/Mp3 encoder and choose VBR encoding before I click "Transfer". Still, the files appear on the Sony Walkman unit in their original format.
Have I missed something?
