Title: JRiver Keeps Switching off Output to Dragonfly Red
Post by: Ripper on January 27, 2017, 01:50:23 pm
I have the latest MC22.  It keeps switching off output to my Dragonfly Red, which is selected as the output device in the player menu.  iTunes outputs fine to the Dragonfly.  How can I get MC22 to play to the Dragonfly without reverting to internal speakers?

Are you unplugging the Dragonfly and coming back to MC later to find it has the default output selected?  If not, what happens in between MC playing to the dragonfly and *not* playing to it?

No, I am not unplugging the Dragonfly.  While it is plugged in, MC22 switches to internal speakers once I hit the play button.  The general Apple sound pulldown menu from the top of the screen reflects the switch, too.  This occurs even though I have selected the Dragonfly in MC22's play menu.

In contrast, iTunes and Roon play fine through the Dragonfly.  Thanks for your help.

So MC won't play to the DragonFly (DF) at all then?

Correct.

You should try some "safe settings" for audio:

Tools > Options > Audio > (select your device by name.  Do NOT use default)
Tools > Options > Audio > Device Settings:

open device with exclusive access: uncheck
Integer mode:  uncheck
Channel offset:  0

Buffering:

software:  250 mS
Hardware:  hardware default

After you save these settings, close MC, then reopen MC, and check to make sure the settings are still the same.  Then try playback again.
